Meet Temitope Abiagom

Motivated by Love, Driven by Purpose

I am a Immigrant woman, I moved to Canada in 2017. Prior to relocating to Nova Scotia with my family, I worked across various sectors, including retail banking, FMCG, education consulting in Nigeria and the UK.

As an immigrant of African descent, I carry both a global perspective and a deep commitment to local communities. Living and working across countries and cultures has shaped how I see people, resilience, and possibility. It also grounds my work in openness, empathy, and collaboration.

My Journey

Across Continents, Towards Impact

Each chapter of my journey has deepened my understanding of people, purpose, and the power of community.

I am an Immigrant woman whose journey has taken her across continents and cultures. I moved to Canada in 2017, and today I call Nova Scotia home, where I live with my family.

Before life brought me here, I built my career across Nigeria and the United Kingdom—working in retail banking, fast-moving consumer goods, and education consulting. Each place, each role, and each encounter taught me something new about people, purpose, and perseverance.

Living and working in different parts of the world has given me a truly global lens, but it’s also deepened my love for community. I’ve learned that no matter where we come from, our stories connect us. That belief grounds everything I do—in openness, empathy, and a commitment to help others find their place and thrive.

How It Started

My journey into social impact leadership began in Nigeria, where my love for education and community first took root. In 2014, in response to a community need I co-founded the Helping Hands Project, an initiative that improved access to education and healthcare for over 300 children and their families across three underserved communities in Agboyi, Lagos state. At the same time, I ran my business, PGSL Education, an agency that helped students connect with global learning opportunities in Canada, UK and Australia. These experiences taught me that change begins when we create space for people to access opportunities and they feel truly supported with the right tools and resources. I decided to go back to school to deepen my knowledge and to equip myself with the right tools to further my work.

Today, I practice as a change and organizational development leader and social worker.  In my day job, I support women and their families in a healthcare setting as they navigate life transitions, including loss, pregnancy, medical diagnoses and settling in a new country.  In my private practice – ADABA Impact Inc – I support individuals , groups and organizations to identify strength and  build capacity for lasting success and impact.

Previously, I served as the Director of Advocacy & Community Response at a women organization in Halifax, where I worked alongside community, business, and government partners to advance gender equity, advocate for inclusive childcare for children with disabilities, and tackle issues like housing, gender-based violence, and youth employment.

Approach

My practice approach blends systems thinking, CBT, solution-focused perspective with faith-based spirituality. This allows me to authentically walk alongside individuals and groups as they navigate change and life transitions, discover strengths, and build strategies for lasting success.

Beyond Professional Roles

Community At Heart

Beyond my professional roles, community remains at the heart of who I am. I created the Immigrant Parents Network, an intentional space for immigrant parents to connect, share resources, and find belonging. I also volunteer regularly  in various community initiatives and events.

I’m equally committed to mentoring the next generation of social workers as an educator and preceptor.
